Charities We Love!
We are thrilled to be working with some wonderful Charities to help spread love, light and laughter thoughout the World. These organisations have inspired us and we hope that they will do the same for you!
To celebrate the launch of our new site, for our first month, we're donating 10% of all webshop sales to LUMOS. LUMOS is a charity set up by the author, J.K. Rowling, who believes that children should be raised in a safe and caring environment. Every child has the right to a real childhood, and poverty, disability or ethnicity should never be a reason to lock a child away. The charity is dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged children by facilitating the end of institutional care.
In June 2011 we held a charity ball in collaboration with Ysgol Crug Glas, a successful special school situated in the heart of Swansea. The school provides for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties, where all pupils are considered to be unique individuals, and the teachers work with them to find the most effective means to maximise their potential. Our aim at Juicy Lucy is to raise enough money to improve the facilities for the Water Therapy Pool, and these donations will allow the school to re-fit the changing rooms at the pool to make it so much easier for the children, young people and carers to use, as well as benefit the wider community of those with special needs for whom the pool is an invaluable resource. In July we were thrilled to present a cheque to the school for £6,000 alongside our sponsor; I.A.C.F.
For the past 2 years we have been working with STARLIGHT, a children's charity which brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting them once-in-a-lifetime wishes. Juicy Lucy’s involvement with Starlight is centred round their annual wishing party, which is held in London every summer. This fabulous party is a special day for Starlight ‘wish children’ and is also a wonderful Starlight Escape for children who are long term or frequent ongoing patients in local hospitals and hospices.
Themed around our most often requested wishes, the party encompasses much of what Starlight does – bringing wishes to life; an escape for children in hospital; a Starlight party; and a little bit of pantomime.
For one magical afternoon, the children and their families will escape to a wonderland inspired purely by their imaginations.
From fairies and fashion to cowboys and action heroes; mini golf to bouncy castles; cars, fire engines and famous folk; there’s fun for everyone. The kids will be able to strut their stuff on the catwalk; meet creepy-crawlies in the jungle; party with Aladdin and Jasmine; challenge cowboys and Indians; have fun on the beach… and that’s just for starters!
