| Ever since she was a little girl, Lucy has been fascinated by fairies....and most of her childhood was spent at the bottom of the garden, playing with them! Finding herself grown -up, Lucy became a primary school teacher, working in London and later in Brighton. |

In 1996 Lucy drew the first Juicy fairies ....it was a Tuesday afternoon, and she was still in her pyjamas. It was clear that they were really rather special, but Lucy, not being sure what to do with them, put them into a brown paper bag and they were stored in the loft for many months.. When sorting through her things, Lucy found the fairies in the bag, and showed them to her friend who said, 'you must get these printed!'
| |
| Lucy's father, (a short and generous Welshman) said to Lucy..'Darling, I need Christmas cards, (for they were festive fairies)...let me print them for you!!'(His dear friend John, was a printer, and was immediately commissioned.)..Lucy's brother,(a handsome and oh-so-slightly -better-than-average surfer) was setting up a company called, 'The Gift Directory' which was to sell beautiful products to British retailers through a catalogue. |

|
'I'll give you a double spread!" he exclaimed ... "But I only have one range of cards", replied Lucy. "Then you'd better do some more!!"he skipped. (Actually..he didn't skip, I just made that bit up.)
| |
So that is how it all began.. the orders started coming in from shops around the U.K, and Lucy designed more cards in the school holidays...She had to do it then, because following her dreams, she had set up an Alternative Learning Centre for Home Educated Children...(and in fact for any families with children who were disillusioned with State Education)..called 'The Lighthouse Learning Centre'.....
| |
This creative and inspirational learning project ran for a couple of years before Lucy decided to work with drawn, rather than real children...So she married Rhodri, another short and generous Welshman (actually not short, for he is the average height for a Welshman)...and after travelling around the world ..leaving 'Juicy Lucy' in the charge of Becky, (along with some chickens, ducks and a guinea pig)...the two returned to England determined to make a success of this delightful band of fairies and angels... So now... |
